Do you ever wonder how The Way Om received its name?
Three years ago, my family and I took a huge a leap of faith. We left our life-long home in California to chart a new course in Pensacola, Florida. There were so many unknown variables -my husband and I became new parents with a six month old daughter in tow. And while my husband was taking on a new career opportunity; I was taking on an entirely new role as a stay-at-home mother.
In hindsight, I believe in those first few months I was depressed and homesick. I had just finished my 200 hour RYT at my home yoga studio and was offered a teaching position shortly after. Just months before that, our family was attending a new church where we made some lifelong friends (who we still remain in touch with to this day). I was beyond content in California, and suddenly, I felt uprooted and disconnected from my tribe and community.
One humid afternoon in Pensacola, I had an idea to start a blog. I wanted to start a community of my own where we could discuss yoga, health, and help each other along this life path. For the longest time, I couldn't think of a name that captured an idea of community, belonging, and "finding your way." I started thinking of southern California and began to wonder if I'd ever find my way back home again. It then occurred to me that home wasn't just a physical place but a feeling of contentment and belonging wherever you are and within yourself. I wanted to come home to me, and there it was...THE WAY OM.
The Way Om isn't just a clever name, but it describes a yoga community and lifestyle that is approachable, dynamic, and inclusive. Everyone is welcome in all our classes and Yoga Socials, regardless of fitness-level, age, race, gender, etc. The Way Om believes that everyone deserves to have a place to call home and space to belong. The Way Om seeks to create an atmosphere where people can be themselves while becoming the best, healthiest version of themselves. So, onto the exciting news:
I'm thrilled to share with you, after a lengthy process; The Way Om is an official registered trademark as of February 6th, 2018!
Thank you all for your support and sharing the same vision that we have for The Way Om. Just know, that each and every student and customer we connect with is every part of this brand and our motivation to keep this community going. More exciting things are on there way!
